An initial conversation
We start by listening. You tell us where and how you trained, how your qualifications have been assessed, and where you'd like to practise. There's no obligation — just an honest look at what the transition involves for you.
Home / Transitional Registration Program
If you trained as a psychologist overseas and your qualifications have been assessed as equivalent to a six-year sequence of study, you are closer to general registration in Australia than you might think. COPP's Transitional Registration Program is a clear, supported pathway — pairing experienced supervisors with NPE preparation and study groups to help you bridge the Australian ethical, legal, cultural and professional-practice differences and step into local practice with confidence.

Built for your background
This program is designed for psychologists who trained overseas and now want to practise in Australia. It's the right fit if you are:
We are an educator, not a regulator. The assessment of whether your overseas qualifications are equivalent — and whether you are granted general registration — is determined by the Psychology Board of Australia. COPP supports your preparation; it does not assess qualifications. We always recommend confirming your individual equivalence and pathway directly with PsyBA.
No two overseas pathways look the same, so we don't force a single syllabus on everyone. Your program is scoped at an initial interview and built around where you trained, the gaps you need to bridge, and the requirements you need to address for Australian practice.
We start by listening. You tell us where and how you trained, how your qualifications have been assessed, and where you'd like to practise. There's no obligation — just an honest look at what the transition involves for you.
From that conversation we design an individualised plan: the supervision, NPE preparation, study groups and learning relevant to your situation. Scope and fees — starting from $4,000 — are confirmed together at this stage, in writing.
You work through the plan with experienced, supervisor-led support and our PALS team alongside you — building the Australian practice knowledge and exam readiness you need, at a pace that respects the rest of your life.
Because the program is customisable, your plan may draw on any combination of the support COPP already delivers across the registration journey — assembled to match your background rather than a template.
Supervision · NPE prep · study groups
Supervision provides targeted guidance to help you navigate the specific ethical, legal, and professional issues that arise in the Australian context, ensuring you are prepared for safe and competent practice as you transition to the Australian context.
Benefit from the opportunity to engage with three learning modules designed for provisional psychologists, each including a live and interactive 3 hours workshop to strengthen your skills development and practice readiness.
An internationally qualified psychologist arriving with extensive recent experience is in a very different position from someone who has been away from clinical work for years. Rather than publish a one-size-fits-all price, the program starts from $4,000 and the final scope and fee are customised and confirmed at your initial interview.
After your first conversation we put a clear, written plan in front of you — what's included, how long it's likely to take, and exactly what it costs. There are no hidden extras and nothing to commit to until you've seen the full picture and decided it's right for you.
Book a friendly, no-obligation conversation with our team. We'll listen to your story, help you understand what the transition to Australian general registration involves, and outline what a customised Transitional Registration plan could look like for you — scope and fees, from $4,000, included in writing before you commit.
