Beginning a 4+2 internship is a significant step towards becoming a registered psychologist. For Rhonda, having peace of mind that she would be supported in her professional development and external supervision was vital.
According to Rhonda, the 4+2 program at COPP did not disappoint. “I am thankful for the support, advocacy and constant guidance I received from my principal supervisor and the other incredible staff that worked at the College of Professional Psychology. Even with free supervision offered through my workplace, I was so happy with COPP that I decided to stay with them throughout my internship” she said.
Today, Rhonda has a job working with children and adolescents in private practice. She says that the skills and knowledge that she gained through her time with COPP helped her to open a new door to this ‘amazing opportunity’. “The College has excellent professional development modules which helped me to develop my skills in assessment, intervention and professional practice” she said.
For Rhonda, one of the most helpful things about working with COPP was their unwavering support when she chose to change jobs during the internship. “I changed jobs three times during my 4+2 internship, and COPP supported me through the process each and every time” she added.
When asked if she would recommend COPP to other provisional psychologists, Rhonda said: “I am forever grateful for everything COPP have done for me, and I highly recommend their program to any provisional psychologist”.
