Learning Essentials
The College of Professional Psychology is proud to introduce Learning Essentials, a comprehensive, practice-focused education and training package designed to meet and exceed the Psychology Board of Australia’s 5+1 requirements. Learning Essentials equips early career psychologists with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to transition smoothly into professional practice, fostering practitioners who are capable, ethical, and ready to make meaningful contributions to the mental health and wellbeing of their communities.
Delivered across 12 core modules, Learning Essentials blends live, interactive practicums with self-directed learning, offering more than 70 hours of high-quality, multimodal education. Each module is mapped to the Psychology Board of Australia’s core competencies, Code of Conduct, and National Psychology Exam curriculum, ensuring strong alignment with professional standards.

- Twelve core modules covering essential knowledge and skills for early career psychologists each with a Live, interactive practicum (3 hours) focused on practical skill development along with Self-directed learning activities, readings, and applied exercises.

Placement and Learning Support
At the College of Professional Psychology, our Placement and Learning Support (PALS) Team is here to ensure you feel supported as you build your skills and progress through the Learning Essentials program. The PALS Team brings extensive experience supporting provisional psychologists across diverse settings and provides personalised guidance to help you make the most of your training and stay confident, informed, and connected throughout your learning journey including:- Answering questions about your professional learning and development
- Assisting with requests for additional learning opportunities
- Offering guidance and support on AHPRA processes and the 5+1 pathway
- No question is too big or too small.
Eligibility
Learning Essentials is designed for provisional psychologists undertaking the 5+1 pathway to general registration.
To enroll in our 5+1 Psychology Registration Program, you must have completed an approved five-year tertiary psychology qualification.
Fees
Learning Essentials $6,000. Our Learning Essentials Program meets all your education and training needs during your 5+1 internship.
Students Qualifications
Overseas psychology qualifications will have to be assessed for their Australian equivalence by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
